Our People
Since 1994 Rupert Rohan has been providing legal and business affairs advice to companies and individuals in the entertainment industry and the broader commercial arena. Having started off specialising in the music industry, Rupert founded Rohan & Co Solicitors with his father in 1998. He has a wide and varied client base ranging from individuals and start-up businesses to PLCs, operating in the fields of new technology, online consumer businesses, media and retail. He also represents many local businesses and professionals.
Far more than just a legal advisor, Rupert is also able to take a commercial view based on years of experience within the commercial environment, which is always welcomed by clients when practical solutions have to be found to potential problems or obstacles.
Rupert was born and raised in Sussex where he continues to live with his wife and young family and is the Trustee of a number of charitable organisations.
Martyn joined the practice in 2006 and is now a partner in the firm. He is primarily a commercial property solicitor with more than 25 years experience mainly in the local area. Previously Martyn has worked in London and for well known larger regional firms. He deals with all aspects of commercial property work as well as a certain amount of residential property work and general commercial work. He has a loyal and well established client base that includes many prominent local businessmen.
Outside work, Martyn is an obsessively keen hockey player who plays for East Grinstead Hockey Club (and England Veterans) and is a qualified coach. He is married and has four daughters, two dogs, a cat and a rabbit. He also plays the occasional round of golf.
Nick Betteridge, formerly a solicitor, is retained as a Consultant with the firm. He has over 40 years legal experience in private practice, specialising in Employment Law. For a number of years, he has also designed and presented Employment Law seminars across the country. In addition, Nick also has a wealth of experience in both Probate and Property Law and is able to provide a full service in these aspects of law to clients. Nick also makes monthly visits to the Haywards Heath Age Concern centre, providing its members with a free advice clinic.
Nick is also the firms Health and Safety Officer.
When not working Nick can often be found ‘treading the boards’, or directing at Lewes Little Theatre.
Sally has become part of the furniture at Rohan & Co, she is the longest serving member of the team, and started working for the firm prior to its relocation to the current premises at Aviation House in 2001.
As well as being the Deputy Office Manager, Sally’s area of legal expertise is domestic conveyancing. She has a wealth of knowledge of the local towns and villages and has developed strong productive relationships with the key estate agents in and around mid-Sussex allowing for swift, trouble-free property transactions.
Outside of work Sally enjoys a variety of pastimes, including going to the theatre, the cinema and attending music concerts. Sally likes a good read, and can also be found enjoying walks along the Sussex countryside.

Martyn brings with him a wealth of local knowledge. He grew up in Haywards Heath, and was educated at the local secondary school and college. During his youth he played a variety of sports for clubs in the area, including representing the Mid-Sussex football team.
Away from work he is a passionate supporter of Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club, and since moving to Lindfield has become a keen gardener and D.I.Y enthusiast.
